About FabTime

About Cycle Time Management
Time is money. This is especially true in the fast-paced and complex
environment of a semiconductor wafer fabrication facility. In a wafer fab:
Long cycle times are directly related to large work-in-process (WIP) inventories. |

Long cycle times have been associated with increased yield losses. |
|
Long cycle times make a factory less flexible in accepting orders, and less able to
accept short turnaround orders. |

Long cycle times are usually less predictable cycle times. |
|
Long cycle times lead to increased numbers of “hot lots”, which in turn
increases variability, and drives up cycle times further. |

Long cycle times lead to unhappy customers. This is the most costly consequence of all. |
